Pickleball Court Use and Etiquette

The following etiquette and rules are for safety and enjoyment of all members and their guests. They are also intended to help maintain and protect our facilities. See related Community Rules located on the KKPOA website for additional information.

  • Courts are open for play from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. every day.

  • All Guests and Unimproved Property Owners (UPOs) must register inside at the Keowee Key FRC Welcome Desk.

  • All players are required to wear non-marking, clean court shoes and other appropriate attire. Shirts are required at all times.

  • Basic pickleball paddles are currently available to borrow at the FRC Welcome Desk. Balls are available for anyone to use in the ball hoppers at the courts. All balls should be returned to the ball hopper after use. Discard any damaged balls. Advise the Pickleball Club if additional balls are needed.

  • Persons not playing pickleball shall remain outside the fenced area or seated on the sidelines inside the fenced area.

  • Only pickleball equipment will be allowed on the courts. There will be no roller skating, skateboarding, bicycling, dog walking or other non-pickleball activities on the courts.

  • Young children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Pets are prohibited inside the fenced area.

  • It is recommended that you bring your own beverages. Only enclosed plastic containers or aluminum cans will be permitted inside the fenced areas. No glass containers are allowed. Water/ice machines are located near the outside bathroom and inside the FRC.

  • No food may be brought onto the courts.

  • When lights are utilized for evening play, the last players leaving must turn the lights off.

  • Wait for a break in play before accessing an occupied court. If players are on court 7, access court 5 by using the double gates near the parking area. If players are on court 2, wait for a stoppage in play before accessing court 4 from the lower pavilion.

  • Use of divider nets must be unanimous amongst all players on the court. Divider nets will not be used if any person on an adjacent court prefers them open. This allows for movement on the court. Divider nets should be returned to open position after use.

  • Use of music must be unanimous amongst all players on all affected courts.

  • Refrain from the use of foul language.

  • Please keep the courts clean by discarding personal trash in the receptacles provided. The FRC staff blows off and cleans the courts and pavilions and removes trash on a periodic basis. Blower is available in storage bin located in the middle pavilion if needed. Courts should never be cleaned with metal/abrasive objects (e.g. shovels) that may damage the court surface.

  • Pickleball nets used on hard tennis courts should be stowed/rolled to fence line after use. Care should be taken when lifting and moving the nets. Ask for assistance from the FRC staff if needed.

  • Return dry BATT towels to the storage containers. If rain is expected, please hang towels in the designated locations.

  • Turn off propane heaters after use, including propane tank valve. Please use care when igniting heaters.

  • Place unattended items in the lost and found box in the upper pavilion.

  • Notify the FRC front desk of any maintenance, safety, or supply issues.
